You should push out someTrading Cards for this game to breathe new life into it. Just going to post this here as it is probably the quickest way you will get notified. My self-assembled Linux rig is much more powerful than the MacBook, but it doesn't have a dedicated gfx card either, so I'm not expecting miracles. These days I'm waiting and looking literally every day for the Linux version of Lifeless Planet that's been announced three months ago.
It's hard for me to judge objectively whether it's better - I'm more used to the »old« look, and I've been using mainly FPS-optimized settings, i.e. When the Premier Edition came out, I played it through 2 more times, and I noticed better framerates as well as a different style of bump mapping with textures like sand dunes and rock. I played the original Lifeless Planet several times on my MacBook Air (it has something like a nVidia 3000 mobile series GPU but with only a few hundred MB shared RAM), and like many, I was taken in by the atmosphere and the soundtrack my MacBook, however, just barely managed to run the game. Simply update the game through the Steam Client to play the new version. The Premier Edition (v 1.5) is a free update to existing owners of Lifeless Planet through Steam (Humble and other platforms coming ~24hrs). This remastered edition brings new content and improved graphics to the desktop versions of the game.
